Orate, Fratres.

Please be in prayer for the Diocese of Tennessee as we meet to elect a new bishop today. If you're interested, the results of the successive ballots will be posted throughout the day at the search committee's website.
Almighty God, giver of every good gift, look graciously on your Church, and so guide the minds of those who shall choose a Bishop for this Diocese that we may receive a faithful pastor, who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

My prayer is that all the laity who want to see Michell elected next Saturday give an earful to all the clergy who want "anyone but Michell" and scorned the clear choice of the lay delegates on all 14(!) ballots.

Not just the laity, but I hope some of the clergy have time to have some frank and open discussions with their peers this week, and can perhaps address some of the fears that they have about Michell. Otherwise none of these candidates will be elected. And while that's not the worst thing that could happen - it's not a *good* thing.
psa+: see you next week.
