Yawn.
The ECUSA House of Bishops has concluding its meeting at Kanuga. Here are the documents:
A couple wrap-ups from the media:

Wait, let me write this down. Caring for the poor and needy among us = good; racial prejudice = bad. Got it.
Did Bp Herlong attend this meeting? I expect he didn't, but I don't know for sure.
I believe Bp. Herlong did attend.
My sources tell me they spent some time crafting a response to the Windsor Report that will surpass all previous records for smarmy episcopal disingenuousness.
How much time do you think they spent toasting themselves for being so bold as to declare that Christians ought to care for the poor and needy and oppose racial prejudice?
Of course actually listening to and learning from (never mind submitting to) our impoverished black, brown, and yellow Anglican brothers and sisters... no, never that.
Well, no. The rules for us are different because we are in a different context. While the Holy Spirit leads us toward inclusiveness and justice, she is leading those pre-enlightenment neo-puritans to a different truth according to their particular context. You need to learn to embrace the Other, Patrick.
I had the impression from Bp Herlong that he was a little weary of HOB meetings (who could blame him?) - I know he didn't go to San Juan a few months ago; but I may have made up the reason in my head. I assumed the ongoing election gave him a good excuse to stay home this week; but he must have decided it was worth going to. Maybe he wanted to hear from the PB candidates.
"smarmy episcopal disingenuousness." -- Mmmm, I smell fudge!
