The Bishop of Exeter's Address.

I think this address is fascinating. The language about repentance vs. regret is strong, as is this part:
"[A]ny further consecration of those in a same sex relationship; any authorisation of any person to undertake same sex blessings; any stated intention not to seriously engage with The Windsor Report -- will be read very widely as a declaration not to stay with the Communion as it is, or as the Windsor Report has articulated a vision, particularly in sections A and B, of how it wishes to be."

Combined with Bishop Duncan's brief comments about the HoB meeting (available on T1:9), it gives me hope that at least some bishops are listening. The stakes for GC06 are incredibly high, and maybe we are finally starting to see some bishops step back and re-assess the situation. One can only hope and pray for changed hearts.

Scott - Where are Bp. Duncan's comments? I didn't see them at T1:9. The bishops should by now at least know the stakes, but how many care?

Thanks. Here are Bp. Duncan's commetns, in toto:

"As always, I am delighted to be back in Pittsburgh after my time at Kanuga. While the House of Bishops as a whole remains a long way from repentance and a reentry into the Christian mainstream, it seemed to me that the meeting evidenced what may be the beginning of a shift of priorities: back toward the Anglican Communion and away from the innovations that have caused such distress at home and abroad.

We can all pray that this change of direction, at least as I perceived it, becomes a tide that will sweep the next General Convention to embrace the Windsor Report. We will continue do our part toward that end. Whatever happens, we in the Diocese of Pittsburgh and the Anglican Communion Network are committed to standing where we have always stood."
